Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf was sustained as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on October 2, 2004.
He was called as second counselor in the Church’s First Presidency on February 3, 2008, and served in that position until January 2018.

Elder Uchtdorf was born on 6 November 1940 in then Mährisch-Ostrau, Czechoslovakia, to Karl Albert and Hildegard Else Opelt Uchtdorf. He was raised in Zwickau, Germany, where his family joined the Church in 1947.
